Those of you who have been here for more than a year or heard from others, may have seen deviantART going purple on October 20th, 2010 which marks the Spirit Day - an event to honor teens who have lost their lives to anti-LGBT bullying as well as to show support for them and others around the world.
However, deviantART had extended it to encompass all sorts of bullying, since bullying of all sorts happen to everyone, everywhere whether we notice it or not regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, profession, physical and/or mental ability, etc.

Sure, there were opposing viewpoints, but however it did bring up bullying (of all types) to forefront for discussion and awareness.
The reason for this news article being that, while I was browsing tumblr I noticed this time of year has arrived once again with several tumblr notes flying everywhere related to Spirit Day appeared in my dashboard. o_O
So I was wondering, based upon last year's initiative by deviantART and the community's response, why not extend this community's support of the Spirit Day ahead of time, so we will be head on ready for when the actual day does arrive!
This will lead to hopefully more response than last time. All of us do have to wait and see deviantART's official response related to Spirit Day, however, why not we as a community take the initiative to 'purplify' deviantART ourselves to our best of abilities?
Be it from a simple avatar change, purple or bullying related deviations for Spirit Day (visual and literature, all type), journals (purple journals!) you name it!
This will surely raise controversies, and discussions like last time, with deviantART's initiative being questioned, but if we as a community stand up and show our pre-support of Spirit Day by extending it from now to later on, someone out there may know they we support them through whether for a day or not.
