ArtStroke
#ArtStroke

:eager: So, a few weeks ago, DeviantArt contacted me with an interesting offer of whether I would like to test something for them or not. I was very excited, but pointed out I don't have beta tester capabilities, to which they said it's a physical product rather than something for the website.
They confirmed my mailing address and showed me this!

It's called ArtStroke. :eager: :la: Remember all those times we were wondering if it would be fun to have something art related or not that we could wear and give us stats and stuff? It's just that and more. As they put it, it's DeviantArt's new wearable device which encourages daily creativity by recording every flick/movement of the wrist. It is very much like the Fitbit (which probably I should use >_> ) and Apple Watch (which I can't afford to use :slow: ) and analyzes the daily strokes of doing art. There's also an iOS and Android companion app that gives you the input for this.

When they showed it to me, it was a prototype or something. I suggested them if it would be possible to get a different strap and overall circular watch look, because at least for this, or for the time being, I am not too into those rectangular piece (I mean, it's going to be artistic device, why not make it interesting as well design wise?). I suggested a bright blue band, but after some discussion, I loved the white Artstroke band. They might get more later on, and some different designs and feel to it. Like, this cool one they sent vs maybe a kid version for gift purpose to your kids/cousins? MAKE A METALLIC STRAP PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

I wasn't given too much info on everything it can do and was just nudged to figure out things and explore.  I used it for painting with my tablet as seen above, for using the DA-Sketchbook app on my old iPad mini (finger painting woo) and also downloaded the DA app from the appstore again to use it and oh boy it works wonderfully!

So several things I found out and was wondering about ....

:bulletblue: It calculated how my wrist and overall hand was moving for every strokes when I was using my tablet. Apparently, my strokes aren't that bad and jittery. :phew: It also works with muro. Which I will get back to it later.

:bulletblue: I thought it would be weird with only having one hand having to wear it, when using fingers to paint in DA-sketchbook app, since the other hand is empty, but it works fine to get the analysis done.

:bulletblue: Browsing DA with the DA app with this on is like a whole other level of interesting experience. They haven't told me, but it looks like while you  browse, any way you put the fingers on the works you like or browse gets synced with analyzing which works you like or not to give you better suggestions of deviations to explore and look at. Perhaps they could use muro inside the app and use the settings to give a more comprehensive experience of using the app?

:bulletblue: You can use it for drawing, painting traditionally. It's not just for digital one. But what would be really great would be to try this out while doing tattoo art, or doing henna, or making sculptures or sewing or chopping food for food art, etc. I mean, those could give loads of data for analyzing various hand movements, gestures, and notify the wearer how it's going. It could read your pulse and see if you are excited for doing a particular artwork or not, or when practicing and notify you to maybe take a break and browse for inspirations?

:bulletblue: I don't know the price, but I don't think it will be that cheap. spyed make it affordable, ok? :eager:

I hope they let me keep it and don't have to return it.
Another extra wouldn't hurt either. :meow:

Anywho, don't mind the messy work area. :iconinthecornerplz:
